Do you ever have a need to extract information from a QR code that is damaged or obscured in some way? You might try QRazyBox, which I have successfully used for a CTF challenge to solve a challenge related to QR codes.
You can import as much of the QR code image that you have, or manually draw it in using the editor. Under the “tools” tab at the top, there are different ways to extract data and brute force information out of the information provided. As always, a good place to start for base knowledge is the Wikipedia article on QR codes — specifically, the error correction subsection is a wealth of knowledge on how the system is designed to recover lost information.
