I am sitting in bed watching a storm roll through as I write this.

I feel as though everyone underestimates lightning to some degree. I see it now with my daughter as I try to teach her the old adage, “if thunder roars, head indoors.”

I had my own experience recently with lightning, getting caught outdoors in a fairly exposed area while a thunderstorm rolled through. It was scary, but humbling. Multiple thousands or maybe even millions of volts of electricity pulsing immediately from ground to cloud, capable of severely injuring or even killing me or my friends. That is true, awesome power. And it deserves our respect.
